A guided aurora tour is a good idea because guides can move you toward clearer skies and darker locations.
DAY 2 — Golden Circle
- Þingvellir National Park
- Geysir geothermal area
- Strokkur geyser
- Gullfoss waterfall
- Secret Lagoon or another geothermal bath
- Northern Lights hunt again at night
The Golden Circle is one of Iceland’s classic routes and combines Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss.
DAY 3 — South Coast
- Seljalandsfoss waterfall
- Skógafoss waterfall
- Black sand beach at Reynisfjara
- Vík
- Glacier views
- Optional snowmobile or glacier excursion
The South Coast is especially good for you because you get waterfalls, glaciers, volcanic scenery and the black-sand coastline all in one day.
DAY 4 — Ice & Adventure
I’d make this your big adventure day:
- Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
- Diamond Beach
- Glacier hike or ice-cave excursion, depending on seasonal conditions
- Return toward Reykjavík
Jökulsárlón is particularly spectacular because icebergs break away from the glacier and float through the lagoon toward the ocean.
DAY 5 — Blue Lagoon + Reykjavík
- Sleep in a little
- Blue Lagoon/geothermal spa
- Lunch
- Last-minute shopping
- Head to Keflavík International Airport

São Tomé’s old plantation estates are one of the most interesting parts of the island’s history and culture.

Time for the tropical side of São Tomé.
